On November 26th, 2016 LSU officially removed the "interim" tag from Head Football Coach Ed Orgeron.

That day, LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva released this statement:

"This is a great day for LSU and for all of Louisiana. We got our man and he's been here all along. Coach Orgeron has demonstrated his ability to run this program with excellence, even under difficult circumstances. Coach O earned this job.

I worked closely with President Alexander and board leadership throughout a very deliberate process. By the end of that process, our decision was clear. Coach Orgeron took us step by step through every aspect of his plans for this program and there was no question that he is the man to lead LSU football."

Three years later, it really looks like Alleva nailed it. By 2019, Coach O had the Tigers back on a national stage, has a Heisman Trophy candidate, and beat Alabama. But Alleva wasn't the only one making strong statements/predictions that day. Coach O told reporters:

"My goal is to build a championship program fast...VERY fast"

To be honest, with LSU ranked #1 in the College Football Playoff rankings, it appears that Coach O was right about that.
