The first fire of the day had Shreveport Fire Department dispatched at 4:58PM Wednesday to the 1800 block of Earl Street to a reported residential fire. Fire Engine 9 was the first unit on scene at 5:03PM and reported a single story wood frame home with heavy smoke and flames visible coming from the rear of the residence. Firefighters were able to enter the home through the front door and locate and extinguish the fire. There were no occupants home at the time of the fire.

It took the efforts of 24 firefighters—8 fire units, 24 minutes to bring this blaze under control. There was heavy damage to the entire residence. The fire is under investigation

The second fire came later in the evening on Youree Drive. Shreveport resident Jonathon Gates, drove by Trejos on Youree and realized the sign for the business was engulfed in flames. Gates thought fast, and decided to film the blazing sign as he was driving by, and posted the video to several pages on Facebook when he got home.

At the time the sign was filmed by Gates, it seems that the Shreveport Fire Department had not made it to the scene. By the looks of the video, it seems to have been burning for quite a while before anyone was called to the scene. The presumed electrical fire seems to have completely destroyed the sign. Look at the amazing video above to see the damage for yourself.
