The State of Louisiana has made multiple moves in response to the COVID-19, or coronavirus, outbreak. The state has closed casinos, as well as the dining rooms for restaurants, bars, gyms, movie theaters, and public gatherings of 50 or more people.

A lot of these measures have been met with understanding for the most part. Not that everyone is excited to see their employment put at risk, but there has been "understanding" over these moves. But there has been some push-back.

We've seen on our station's social media pages, and in our direct messages. There are people who don't believe we should be closing industries, and some who want to intentionally violate those orders. So what happens if you do?

A new report from KTBS says violating these new rules could land you in jail.

Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Louisiana State Police, came forward right away to announce that they would be enforcing these laws. In KTBS' report, they indicate that Sabine Parish has also come out publicly to show their support of the restrictions, and readiness to enforce them:

"Sabine Parish District Attorney Don Burkett took a proactive approach by reminding residents that those who ignore the order can be fined up to $500 or spend six months in jail."
