Blake Shelton Reacts to Adam Levine Leaving ‘The Voice': ‘It Hasn’t Set in on Me Yet’
"Having a hard time wrapping my head around @adamlevine not being at @NBCTheVoice anymore. After 16 seasons that changed both of ours lives," Shelton writes on Twitter. "I only found out about this yesterday and it hasn’t set in on me yet."
Of course, in the spirit of the two original Voice coach's longstanding good-natured rivalry, he couldn't resist adding, "Gonna miss working with that idiot."
Levine's surprise decision to leave the iconic reality singing competition after 16 seasons was announced during the Today show on Friday (May 24), just two weeks after NBC announced on May 10 that all of the Season 16 coaches would return for Season 17. Host Carson Daly is also slated to return. It's not clear what drove Levine to change his mind about next season.
The Most Unforgettable The Voice Moments Ever
Levine won The Voice three times in his 16-year tenure, but did not place a contestant in the Season 16 finale.
Legend won Season 16 of The Voice with Maelyn Jarmon. Shelton had three contestants going into the finale, but fell short of another win; Gyth Rigdon placed second, followed by Dexter Roberts and Andrew Sevener.
