The flood waters in South Louisiana are receding and clean-up efforts are already starting to take place. The flood has devastated entire communities, destroying nearly everything that it has touched. In Livingston Parish, it is estimated that 105,000 people lost their homes. Considering that the population of that Parish is only about 130,000, that is a heart-wrenching statistic.

Denham Springs in Livingston Parish was one of the hardest hit areas, with 90% of homes, businesses, schools completely flooded. Denham Springs High School saw some pretty heavy damage, but one local high school is coming together to help out the school and its students.

Airline High School in Bossier City has started a three tiered effort to assist Denham Springs High School. A press release from Airline tells us exactly how the Vikings are going to help out the people of Denham Springs:

Below are the three ways we will begin to attempt to aid them in their time of need. We are encouraging our students to participate so we can send a lot of love their way!

1. Denim for Denham – Our students will have the opportunity to wear jeans to school for $5.00 in an effort to raise money to help the students/faculty and staff of Denham Springs High School.

2. Share-A-Shirt for Denham Springs
We will be selling “T” Shirts and for every shirt that is sold, the same shirt design but with Denham colors will be sent to their school. This sale is OPEN to ANYONE in our school and community.

3. Clubs/Organization Collaboration
Each club or organization at Airline is being asked to donate all kinds of school supplies so we can send them to Denham Springs High School. The community is also welcome to donate these items to Airline and we will make sure they get to Denham Springs High School.
