With the storms and the flooding and all of the misery we have seen here in the Ark-La-Tex in the last few days, I thought it was time for a story that made people feel good again about our home, Louisiana. And today at a press conference the Louisiana black bear will officially be removed from the endangered species list. Robert Barham, former Secretary of the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries said that that is something worth celebrating. "We were certainly less than a hundred bears at one point.", Barham said, adding that they now know for certain there are enough black bears in this state to sustain themselves for at least one hundred years,"..for our grandchildren's enjoyment. So the teddy bear is back."  The Atchafalaya basin and the Tensas area are home to the state's largest black bear populations. Well done Louisiana,  well done.
