If you have ever wanted a career in Law Enforcement, The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office may have your chance as one of their reserve deputies.

The Reserve Deputy Academy is expected to begin on September 7, and the deadline to get your application to the Sheriff's office is July 5 by 5 p.m.

According to the notice by the CPSO, Sheriff Steve Prator is looking for a few good men and women to fit these volunteer roles.

Reserves are volunteer deputies. This level reserve deputy receives a minimum of 100 hours of POST training in areas such as firearms proficiency, defensive tactics, first aid, and Louisiana law. The Reserve Academy will be held two nights each week and on Saturdays for eight weeks.

The Caddo Sheriff Office Reserve Unit currently includes 50 deputies who come from many professions and walks of life. Reserves go through the same hiring process as full-time sheriff’s employees. They must meet minimal fitness standards, be at least 21 years old, and be able to volunteer at least 120 hours each year.

Applications can be found online at www.caddosheriff.org. Go to “Careers” tab and click on “Application Process.” They can also be picked up from the Sheriff’s Office at 505 Travis Street in Shreveport. For additional information, contact Reserve Captain Phillip Deaton at 453-5138.
