Krewe of Centaur Makes HUGE Donation to Operation Santa Claus

The Krewe of Centaur is known for being active in the community, but this time they've truly knocked it out of the park for local Shreveport kids!

One of the things that originally drew me to Centaur was the amount of work they do in the Shreveport-Bossier community. Of course, it didn't hurt that they know how to pass a good time;) Plus, it was where I felt comfortable and a part of a 'family.'

Over the years, I've attended, reported on, and hosted a TON of Mardi Gras events, so I might know a thing or two about Mardi Gras in northwest Louisiana. With that being said, I'm a huge fan of the things area krewes do in and for our community and especially, the Krewe of Centaur.

I've honestly never been as proud to be a member of Centaur as I was when I opened my email to find out that this year, our krewe raised a whopping $10,050 through their annual bake sale to make sure that kids right here in Shreveport-Bossier City get to experience the magic of Christmas via Operation Santa Claus. Every year, each float puts out a call for members to donate baked goods which are then auctioned off at the November membership meeting. All told 54 items that included homemade cakes, cookies, cobblers, candied pecans, and other treats sold for record-breaking amounts due to the generosity of our Centaur membership.

On top of all of the money raised via the bake sale/auction, members also donated a ton of new unwrapped toys for kids in our area who would otherwise go without. From the bottom of our hearts here at Townsquare Media, proud partner of Operation Santa Claus since its inception, thank you!

Before we get into more reasons why Centaur is so awesome, here are a few important dates for you to add to your calendar. 12th Night, the kickoff to the local Mardi Gras season, is Saturday, January 7th, 2023 at the Bossier City Civic Center. The Krewe of Centaur 31st Grand Bal is Saturday, January 28, 2023, at the Shreveport Convention Center and the parade is Saturday, February 11, 2023. All hail!
