At approximately 4:30 p.m. on June 24, 2011, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a reported burglary at the Shreveport Convention Center in the 400 block of Caddo Street.  Upon arrival, officers learned that an unknown suspect had apparently crawled up and over a set of locked glass doors and then through a hole between the doorway and the ceiling to gain access to a restricted portion of the facility.  Once inside, the suspect stole several items, including an amplifier and a microphone, before leaving the building through a door.

Investigating officers processed the crime scene there and were able to recover latent fingerprints from the suspected point of entry above the doors.  Those prints were turned in as evidence and crime scene investigators were able to positively match them to 18 year old Deandre Gibbs.  Detectives located Gibbs, of the 2100 block of Grimmett Drive in Shreveport, at the Caddo Correctional Center where he is being held on unrelated criminal charges, and charged him with one count of simple burglary.

Fingerprints lifted from a burglary scene last week have led investigators to charge a Shreveport man with that offense.
