We ran across this report about designer babies today. It's a way to add a 3rd person to the DNA composition of your baby.

It sounds crazy, but involves a new technology aimed at eliminating genetic disease in newborns. Here's what would happen: you would would combine the DNA of three people, instead of just two, to create a baby. Doctors would replace DNA in the unfertilized eggs of a hopeful mother with disease-free genes from a donor. Federal regulators are now checking out the procedure which is used now only in monkeys.

The Food and Drug Administration is set to explore the issue during meetings this week. Doctors and researchers will be presenting all of the detailed medical information. The FDA will then determine if it's ok to move forward with the testing on a woman in Portland, Oregon.

If you could have a 3rd party as part of your baby's DNA, would you do it. If so, who would you pick?
