I am pretty sure that somewhere in between all the conversations about tropical weather and COVID-19 that you have been made aware there is an election of major importance coming up this November. Yes, our nation will be choosing a President and there are several other important offices and issues that you'll need to weigh in on too.

But in order to weigh in with your vote, you have to be eligible to vote and that's where some of these important deadlines really come into play.

If you're planning on voting in the November 3rd Presidential election you'll need to be registered. The deadline for doing that in person or through the mail is October 5th. Online registration through the Secretary of State's weblink will continue through October the 13th.

Louisiana has announced that early voting for the November 3rd election will begin on Friday, October the 16th. Early voting will continue through October the 27th. Voting will take place each day, with the exception of Sunday, October 18th, and 25th, between the hours of 8:00, am, and 7:00 pm. Early voting takes place at your parish Registrar of Voters' office.

If you plan to request an absentee by mail ballot you'll need to make that request by Wednesday, October 30th at 4:30 pm. Requests for absentee voting by mail may be made online or you may make that request at your parish Registrar of Voters' Office.

November the 2nd at 4:30 is the deadline for all Registrar of Voters offices to receive mail-in ballots. The exception is the ballots cast from military and overseas voters.

If you have specific questions for where you vote, when you vote, and how you vote, you may consult your parish Registrar of Voters Office or you can find out more by visiting the Louisiana Secretary of State's office online.
