Being in the south means that we have pretty mild weather for most of the winter, but every once in awhile we get a freeze, or maybe some cold weather warnings. And in Florida this week, the arctic blast caused the National Weather Service in Miami to issue an unusual alert that has some of us scratching our heads. A 'falling iguana alert' has apparently been sent out as an unofficial warning to citizens of the Sunshine State.

According to USA Today 'Green iguanas are an invasive species in Florida known for eating through landscaping and digging burrows that undermine infrastructure'. Let's all be glad that the National Weather Service in Lake Charles is not issuing a 'falling alligator alert' for Louisiana citizens. #whew
