Governor  Edwards addresses severe weather and flooding that is moving across the state. South Louisiana has been hard hit this week, but North Louisiana will get pounded by rains throughout today and tomorrow.

The Governor has declared a state of emergency for the entire state of Louisiana as a result of severe weather.

Governor Edwards says:

We are in constant contact with local officials and first responders, and assistance is already on the move to affected parishes. The most important thing to remember is to obey road signs and to constantly monitor the news for updates to ensure everyone’s safety. Every available resource will be used to assist citizens as this situation continues to unfold.

The Red Cross has also activated crews in New Orleans and Thibodeaux.
