Healthy King Cake? Yes!!! Happy Mardi Gras Y’all!
With most of us trying to lose weight in the new year, king cake can easily derail your diet! You know the feeling, you're cruising along, eating like a rabbit and then bam! Mardi Gras hits and delicious king cakes are everywhere you look... in the break room at work, on display at the grocery store, etc... Then you start rationalizing why you should be able to have just one piece. After all, it's generally only around for a limited time, right? You've got to take advantage of it while you can!
That's why I was so pleased to see this release from Oschner about Eat Fit King Cake! It's low carb, gluten-free and dairy-free... and it's available now in locally at Whole Foods, Glow Alchemy, at PJ's Coffee and at LSU Health locations. They are also available to order here.
Here's what the Oschner website has to say about the Eat Fit King Cake:
Centered on an all-natural clean ingredient label, the Eat Fit King Cake is sweetened with Swerve, a natural, plant-based sweetener based in New Orleans, with zero artificial sweeteners or colors.
But here’s the thing: If you didn’t know it was so nutritious, you would have no idea. Because we used almond and coconut flour, the appearance and texture is like a regular white king cake – not grainy, like a whole wheat version. And it’s also incredibly moist, almost like pound cake meets king cake.
While I admit I'm skeptical, I'm definitely willing to give it a try!
