Horror/Sci-Fi Flick ‘The Dead S.I.T.E.’ Filming in Shreveport

It's going to be a movie like no one has ever seen before. That's what the producer and director for 'The Dead SITE' are saying.

Producer Justin LeBrun, a Lafayette native, told me since he restarted his acting career, he's been fascinated by the Shreveport-Bossier area, which is why he decided to film this full-length motion picture here.

"I've worked on productions like 'Salem,' 'The Town That Dreaded Sundown,' 'I Saw the Light,' so it's always been an attraction to me," he said. "I'd always planned on shooting here, so in 2012, I shot my first short here for the LA Film Prize. A couple of years later, here we are shooting a feature film."

In case you're wondering, S.I.T.E. does stand for something -- it's Shall Inherit the Earth. Director Richard Lowry said this film combines several different genres.

"Fans of 'The Walking Dead' are gonna love it, sci-fi fans will love it, general horror fans will love it," Lowry said. "It's a hodge-podge of different kinds of genres fused into one movie, so it's a very interesting film."

According to LeBrun, the plot centers around a group of extraterrestrials that are having to escape their home planet due to religious conflict. "He Who Watches" is what they call God in this story. God decides to punish this race due to their religious conflict, so he mutates their genetic makeup and turns them into zombies.

But wait, it gets better. The aliens find a spaceship and set their coordinates for the next peaceful planet, but He Who Watches decides that's not going to happen. He sends them to earth instead, where they crash-land...in Israel.

We don't want to reveal too much of the story too soon, of course. LeBrun and Lowry say they're thinking of taking their movie to the Cannes Film Festival, but there's still a possibility of a big Shreveport release. They haven't decided for sure yet.

The did tell me they're looking for some undead extras. They'll be picking out some cast members at this Saturday's SBC Zombie Walk at Necromanor. Be sure to let organizers know if you're interested in being part of the movie.

Filming begins October 3, and is expected to wrap up in 17 days. The movie should be completely finished by next March or April. We'll definitely be keeping tabs on this one.
