Is This Really Louisiana’s Favorite Halloween Candy?
Last year, you might have been just as surprised as me to learn that the Number One selling candy in Louisiana was Lemonheads.
Apparently it wasn't a joke. Candystore.com was the source that compiled the data and Lemonheads were tops followed by Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Blow Pops.
Well, that was 2021. Out with the old and in with the new. Armed with new research from a 1,000 person survey done back in August, byte.com has just released the latest staggering find.
We surveyed more than 1,000 Americans about their go-to treat, and we also analyzed hundreds of Google search terms and phrases to determine the top candy by state.
And just like most of us thought. No, Lemonheads might be the number one selling candy in the Bayou State, but they are not our favorite Halloween candy.
That honor belongs to, Hot Tamales. Wait, what?
It's America's second "Most Hated Candy" right behind candy corn and it is Louisiana's favorite? And to add insult to injury, turns out it's also the favorite candy in Alabama. I blame Nick Saban.
Byte.com also pointed out that Hot Tamales are among the leaders in being bad for your teeth. Their experts say they feel these to be the Worst Candies For Your Teeth
- Hard Candy (like Jolly Ranchers)
- Coated Candy (like Hot Tamales)
Overall, the findings show that America's favorite candies this year were:
- Kit Kat
You knew chocolate had to lead the pack, but Byte's research showed that the top searched Halloween candy in most states was Nerds! (This really frightens me about the future of our country)
