And whether those bridges are being inspected or actually seeing repair work, the associated traffic delays that each brings, while temporarily inconvenient, are truly needed for the overall safety for all drivers.

Such is the case for drivers in the northern part of Caddo Parish near Mooringsport who are currently dealing with the closure of the LA 169 bridge over Walnut Bayou, while bridge piling repairs are being done.

Another of those closures is scheduled for this Sunday, March 15, when I-20 westbound at the Fairfield Avenue interchange in Shreveport, will be reduced to two lanes for the purpose of bridge inspection. These inspections will also force the closure of the Common Street on-ramp to I-20 westbound, the LA 1 (Market St) southbound on-ramp to I-20 westbound and the I-20 westbound off-ramp to Fairfield Ave.

This bridge, located approximately 4.3 miles south of the intersection with LA 169 (4 Forks Road), will be closed until Friday, March 20.

These important repairs will necessitate a total road closure at this specified location. All vehicles will need to utilize an alternate route.

DOTD advises that this work will be performed "Weather Permitting" and any inclement weather could delay, extend, or alter in other ways, the scheduled work days/hours.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
