Well, that was quick. It was only days ago that the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advised us that a near complete $117,000,000 rebuild of I-20 in Bossier City would begin later this year, however, it would appear that work will actually begin this coming Monday, June 5.

In a notice that went out yesterday, the DOTD has advised all motorists that beginning on Monday, June 5, there will be intermittent lane closures on I-20 eastbound and westbound from LA 3 (Benton Rd) to LA 782-2 (Industrial Drive) in Bossier City.

The lane closures will continue from Monday, June 5 through Friday, June 9, from approximately 9:00 am to 4:00 pm each day, and according to the DOTD, are necessary to allow for roadway maintenance activities.

Though the DOTD doesn't specifically mention that any of this has anything to do with the upcoming major I-20 repair project, one can only assume this is a precursor to that work scheduled to begin later this year and will continue for approximately two years which would take them until about the Fall of 2025.

As with all projects from the DOTD, this work will be performed weather permitting, so the possibility exists for changes or postponements to the planned schedule.

Additionally, the DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.

Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
