LOUISIANA - A new nationwide recall involving cough drops is raising concerns across the country, including right here in Louisiana. Federal health officials say the issue could impact products many families keep in their homes, especially during allergy season.
If you’ve recently stocked up on cough drops, here’s what you need to know right now.
Why These Cough Drops Are Being Recalled
According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the recall was triggered after problems were discovered during an inspection of a manufacturing facility.
Officials say the recall stems from conditions identified at the production site, which may affect the safety or quality of the product according to AOL.com.

Although details right now are a little thin, recalls like this are typically issued when there’s a risk that a product could be contaminated or not meet safety standards.
The FDA has designated this as a Class II recall, meaning exposure to the product may "cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences".
