As the state enters the phase of reopening, many parents will be returning to work. If you will need childcare, there are a few things parents should know.

The Department of Education and the LA Department of Health have outlined steps for the safe operation of summer camps, childcare centers, summer school, and many other extracurricular activities for the summer.

All entities offering summer programs for children, K-12, will have to adhere to specific protective measures set by the Office of Public Health (OPH):

  • Social distancing, achieved by maintaining small, static groups that minimally interact with other groups:
  • Assessing and monitoring students for symptoms of COVID-19, including fever, cough, shortness of breath, and/or sore throat
  • Practicing frequent environmental cleaning and hand-washing.
  • During Phase One, groups will be limited to ten people, including adults. Under OPH guidelines, adults and children must wear cloth masks, if able. However, hildren under two years old and/or individuals with severe breathing difficulties are advised not to wear masks.
