The Louisiana Department of Health has announced that it has begun tracking outbreaks of coronavirus tied to schools in the state.

According to LDH's online COVID-19 dashboard, the state has begun tracking groupings of virus schools across the state beginning this week.

As of Tuesday, the department reported just a single outbreak in which four known cases can be attributed. The data, however, did not specify where those cases originated.

State officials say an outbreak is defined as two or more cases among unrelated individuals that have visited a site within a 14-day period.

LDH began updating outbreak data weekly back in July.
