LSU Health's Dr. John Vanchiere talks about the latest schedule for, and availability of, all three COVID vaccines in the Shreveport - Bossier City area.

Vanchiere points out that the age eligibility to receive any of the three vaccines from the LSU Health drive-thru operation at the Louisiana State Fairgrounds has expanded. "(It's now) down to age 16 with underlying conditions," he says, listing a few of the eligible co-morbidities, which is available on the LSUH website. "And with no co-morbidities it's still 65 and older."

And Vanchiere emphasizes that the ability to distribute the vaccines is also expanding. "We have four tents now...and the wait time Wednesday was less than 20 minutes all day long. In fact, we were a little disappointed more folks didn't come. We did less than a thousand.

"We're ready for two thousand a day through the next week to ten days or more. We have plenty of vaccine...we've published what vaccines we're using and when and we'd like to see more folks out."

Vanchiere adds that at the LSUH Fairgrounds site, the Pfizer and Moderna two-shot vaccines will be given through Friday from 10am til 6pm. Then on Saturday at the Fairgrounds, the Johnson & Johnson single dose vaccine will be distributed from 9am til 2pm. He adds that the process is expedited if those wanting the vaccines pre-register at the LSUH site.
