Louisiana Retailers Can Apply to Sell CBD Oil Legally This Month

The confusion of whether or not retailers could sell CBD oil in Louisiana has finally come to an end.  Governor John Bel Edwards signed House Bill 491 in to law late last week, creating a regulatory structure for the cultivation and sale of industrial hemp and CBD oil.  Both hemp and CBD oil come from a plant in the cannabis family, and closely resemble marijuana with one major difference - the amount of the psychoactive ingredient THC.  While the substance that gives pot users the "high" is technically present in both hemp and CBD oil, the amounts are so low as to be negligible.

There are myriad uses for both, and thanks to the new law - both farmers and retailers will soon be free to sell the newly regulated products without fear of prosecution.  Retailers who wish to sell the oil that many people claim helps them with conditions like anxiety, depression, heart disease, pain relief and more will have to complete the application process.  With the new rules in place, that process starts on June 17th.

That process includes meeting quite a few requirements in order to toe the line with the ATC ( Louisiana's Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control).
