A Louisiana woman has been arrested after she set her son's house on fire and then filing an insurance claim.

According to the Louisiana Fire Marshal's Office, the 67-year-old woman was arrested in Morehouse Parish for arson and insurance fraud.

According to the Tweet, the Bastrop Fire Department requested an investigation by the State Fire Marshal's Office after this fire, as it had been one in a series that they have responded to at this residence.

Investigators were able to pinpoint the origin of the fire (in a bedroom, on a mattress) and also determined that the fire had been set intentionally.

After questioning Cassie Hughes, the mother of the homeowner, it was determined that she was in the home, alone, at the time of the fire. Investigators also learned that Hughes had reached out to the insurance company shortly after the blaze to file a claim.

Hughes' son, the homeowner, told investigators he believed that she could be responsible for the fire(s).

After confronting Hughes with the mounting evidence, she admitted to setting the fires intentionally to benefit from the insurance claim.
