The LSU Tigers football team has moved up one spot in both the Associated Press and Football Coaches Polls, to number 4 overall.

The only teams ahead of LSU right now are #1 Alabama, #2 Clemson, and #3 Notre Dame. All three of those teams are undefeated on the year, making LSU the highest ranked team with a loss.

The move up is thanks to the biggest loss of the weekend, where the Ohio State Buckeyes fell to the Purdue Boilermakers 49-20.

LSU is coming off another convincing win at home, this time against Mississippi State. The final score was 19-3, but honestly the game wasn't as close as the score might indicate.

This now sets up the biggest game of the year for LSU, the SEC and all of college football. LSU will host #1 Alabama in Baton Rouge. Two of the top four teams in the nation will collide, with a college football playoff birth likely on the line. Due to how college football works, a loss in this game will likely eliminate the loser from the playoff, even though a win doesn't guarantee a spot (though it'd make it so you just have to win out to secure it for sure).
