Minden Residents Raised Over $1.6 Million for Children’s Hospital
Every year Minden residents work together to raise money for the St. Jude Children's Hospital through an auction, chili cook-off, cornhole tournament, runs, and more. It's a full weekend of fun activities for a great cause and this year Minden did something amazing. In less than a week, the residents of Minden were able to raise over $1.6 million for St. Jude to help sick children... that's more money, per capita, than any other city in America!
As part of their statement, St. Jude says "no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family's ability to pay." This means that because of donations like this, kids who otherwise wouldn't be able to get treatment can get exactly what they need to live longer, healthier lives. There's a St. Jude affiliated clinic in Shreveport, one of only seven in the country, where children can receive help right here in our community.
Webster Parish schools were able to raise $153,349 of the grand total for this amazing cause.
Thank you, Minden and Webster Parish, for showing just how big our hearts are in Louisiana!
