How Will this Complex Be Paid For?

Mayor Perkins says this a public private partnership and it will be paid for
with a long term lease agreement and revenues from the project. He was asked if any public money would be used and he said "we'll see as we build out the project."

What is the Timeline?

No dates were given by the Mayor and his team. But Mayor Perkins says the goal is to attract an independent team with this stadium which he says could ultimately lead to a minor league team.

Perkins says he is looking for input from the public about this plan. He says the goal of this complex is to host many different sporting and entertainment events.

REV Entertainment president, Sean Decker says the stadium will be built in an effort to attract an independent league team. But at this point there is not deal for a team to locate in Shreveport.

Will this deal have any impact on the demolition of Fairgrounds Field? Mayor Perkins says "no". He is hopeful the legal process will soon be settled and the city can move forward with the demolition work. Fair Grounds Field was abandoned more than 10 years ago and has been deteriorating ever since.

50+ Pictures of Shreveport's Abandoned Historic Fairgrounds Field

Before you know it, Shreveport's historic Fairgrounds Field will be will be exactly that - history. Once the legal wrangling is done, the proverbial endangered-bat-guano will hit the fan and the once glorious Ratchet-City cathedral to baseball will be demolished and gone.

Before it "bats" its final inning, let's take a final look at the glory that once was. I warn you though, it's kind of like seeing that super-hot girl from high school 20 years later - and time has not been kind.
