Officials Ask DeSoto Parish Residents to Take Caution Against Rabid Skunks

According to news sources, there have been a large amount of rabid skunks in DeSoto Parish. So many that officials are asking everyone to take caution when coming in contact with wild animals.

The last thing I would think would try to attack me in the wilderness would be rabid skunks, but apparently there is an issue. 14 possible rabid skunks had to be handled by DeSoto Parish Animal Services, according to news sources.

To keep pets safe from this sort of thing is to keep them vaccinated for rabies, and if you see animals acting abnormal make sure to report sightings to animal control. Also, I would avoid skunks for a while.
