With Mother's Day this Sunday, we thought we'd help you out with a hand selected list of fun events in Shreveport/Bossier so you can take mom out for some fun!

Keep in mind, this weekend is the 45th annual Blanchard Poke Salad Festival. Word is, despite the inclement weather, the show will go on through this Sunday! Also of note, the Polk Salad Treasure worth $1,000 has been found by Kaycee Richards. It was on the bottom of the street sign pole at Maple and Attaway St. in Blanchard.

    Shreveport Stuffed Shrimp Festival

    Ummm... Stuffed Shrimp! It's got you hungry already just think about it, doesn't it! Head to the Louisiana State Fairgrounds this Sunday from 11am - 7 pm. The event is being organized by the Eddie E. Hughes Foundation, a Shreveport-based nonprofit organization. Funds raised by the festival will establish a scholarship for a deserving student from Woodlawn Leadership Academy or Huntington High School in Shreveport to obtain a Certificate of Technical Studies in Culinary Arts from Bossier Parish Community College. Admission is free.

    Chonda Pierce

    Who doesn't like to laugh! Comedian Chonda Pierce is in town Saturday at Shreveport's historical Municipal Auditorium. Special guest Karyn Williams will be there as well. The show starts at 7 pm and tickets are available for $49.50, $36 and $26.

    318 Crawfish Crawl

    Shrimp aren't the only crustaceans being honored (and eaten) this weekend! This event is hosted by the Shreveport/Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau and the goal is to eat crawfish at every single participating restaurant. Download your Crawfish Passport here.     Twin City Roller Derby

    The Twin City Roller Derby is ready to strap on their skates for this weekend as they host a double header at the Bossier Civic Center taking on the Conroe Cutthroats from Conroe, Texas in Game 1 on Saturday, May 11, 2019. Then stick around as Team Louisiana takes on Team Gumbo in a friendly mashup for Game 2.

    Northwest Louisiana Master Gardeners Le Tour De Jardins

    I wish I had a green thumb, heck, I wish I enjoyed gardening just a little bit. I love looking at a gorgeous yard, just don't like the work to get it that way. You'll have the opportunity this Saturday and Sunday. Tours are from 10 a. to 5 pm Saturday, and 1 pm to 5 pm Sunday. Advance tickets are $10 and can be purchased at any Citizens National Bank or by calling the Master Gardener office at (318)698-0010. Tickets may also be purchased at any garden on the days of the tour for $15. Check out the tour specifics here.
