At least 200 people are involved in an outbreak of Norovirus have been linked back to Lake Charles based L'Auberge Caisno.

The source of the outbreak was traced back to the events hosted by the casino last weekend. WVUE spoke with Dr. Lacey Cavanaugh, the Medical Director for the State Health Office in Lake Charles, who said the virus is "highly contagious".

Norovirus is described by the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention as:

"a very contagious virus that causes vomiting and diarrhea. People of all ages can get infected and sick with norovirus."

The virus is easily spread, because people who are infected can spread millions of particles of the virus, and it only takes a few particles to infect someone else. This includes having direct contact with an infected person, consuming food or drink that has been in contact with an infected person, or touching uncleaned surfaces that were in contact with an infected person.

The most common symptoms of Norovirus include diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, fever, headache, body aches, and stomach pain.

You usually develop symptoms 12 to 48 hours after coming in contact with the virus, and the symptoms can last 1 to 3 days.

There is no specific treatment for Norovirus, but experts say you should consume plenty of water to prevent dehydration.
