Two different groups staged protests outside Michael Vick's comedy show at The Strand Theatre Saturday night. The protests were quite peaceful with no altercations reported.

Mayor Cedric Glover did drop by and chat with people on both sides of this fiery debate. Some of the animal rights activists came from as far away as Mississippi.

Another group held a "Forgiveness Rally" for Vick at the same time. They urged local residents to forgive Vick, saying he has paid his debt to society.

While there may have been some exchanges between members of the two groups, the protest and rally remained peaceful overall. Shreveport police reported no incidents.

Vick, the current New York Jets quarterback, served time in federal prison for dog fighting.
