UPDATE: Romancing the Range Postponed
Due to the incoming 'polar vortex,' the 'Romancing the Range' event at Bodcau for Valentine's Day has been postponed. I know, I know, I'm bummed out, too! But it's going to be COLD!!!
The event has been rescheduled for Saturday, February 20, 2021. However, the fine folks at Bodcau have decided to have a little fun this Saturday, February 13th with their first-ever ammo lottery. You can enter anytime from 7:30 am - 4 pm. Just like the originally planned ammo lottery for this Sunday, 10 rounds of 9mm ammo equals one entry. The winner gets to take home all the ammo when they draw at 4 pm. You MUST be present to win! Good luck;)
Original Post - January 27, 2021:
This may be the most 'Louisiana' event for Valentine's Day I've ever seen and I want to go! I'm a fan of shooting sports, so I may be biased, but this sounds like a 'blast!'
So, grab your honey and your 'gunny' and make tracks to the Bodcau Shooting Range for their couples amateur shooting event Sunday, February 14, 2021, starting at 1 pm. Couples will get the chance to compete for a gift basket full of goodies in a target shooting competition. Each couple gets 20 shots total, that's 10 shots each. No cheating! FYI, optic-free pistols only and the best score wins.
Now, you may think a steak and lobster dinner for two might be cheaper than a day at the range right now. With the current price of ammo, you would probably be right. But this is would be a unique Valentine's Day date that you won't forget anytime soon. Plus, my buddies at Bodcau are also giving you the chance to WIN AMMO! Yes, free AMMO!
How do you win the ammo? Easy! Every 10 rounds of 9mm ammo you bring are counted as an entry and the winner takes all! The winning ticket will be drawn at the end of the couples shooting contest and you do have to be present to win. Count me in! Just in case you were wondering, my size is 9mm:)
The Bodcau Shooting Range is open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 7:30 am - 4:30 pm. Gun safety is strictly enforced and admission to the range is free. They also offer instruction, which I've taken full advantage of. The physical address is 168 Ben Durden Road, Benton, LA 71006 for your GPS. If you have any questions, you can go to their Facebook page, call (318) 326-3225, or email cmoore@wlf.la.gov. The range is operated by volunteers for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. I honestly think this range is one of the best-kept secrets in NWLA!
I may just take my single butt up to the range Valentine's Day, solely for the chance to win some ammo! Who's in?
