It's Mardi Gras season in Shreveport Bossier and it brings up the question about the routes for the biggest parades in our region.

The Krewe of Centaur rolls on February 3rd with the Krewe of Gemini on February 10th. Both begin on the Clyde Fant Parkway and roll to Shreveport Barksdale Highway and then to East Kings where the parades wrap up at Preston.

Some residents of the Broadmoor and Captain Shreve Neighborhoods have called for a change to the route. They don't like the festivities in the residential area. But supporters say this is the best option.

Others have called for the parades to return to Bossier City, but leaders on the east side of the Red River have expressed no interest in having the parades back.

So we want to know. If you could change the route of the parades, what would you do?

In his final article for the Forum, the late Lou Gehrig Burnett made the case for changing the route. You can see his article right here.
