An ongoing dispute among three or four families spilled over to a Bossier City middle school campus this morning.

Bossier Sheriff's Lt. Bill Davis tells KEEL News five girls got into a fight at T.O. Rusheon on Old Minden Road just after 9 a.m. The father of one of the girls -- identified as 42-year-old Lemale James -- came to the school and pushed the assistant principal to the ground. He was charged with battery on a school official.

The five girls were charged with disturbing the peace by fighting and were booked into the Ware Detention Center in Coushatta.

Lt. Davis says Bossier City Police had to work an incident the girls and their families had already had earlier in the morning, before the girls arrived at school. When they got off the bus and into the school's lobby, two girls exchanged words, started fighting, and the other girls started jumping in.

The school resource officer on the campus called for the assistance of other deputies and police officers, who were on the scene quickly to help stop the conflict.

One of the main messages Sheriff Julian Whittington wants to enforce is that children have to be held accountable for their actions. He says these schools are a major priority for the parish and this type of behavior will not be tolerated.

In a separate incident, a sixth student was charged with terrorizing after making threatening comments to a law enforcement officer.
