It’s college football time again in Shreveport-Bossier and the Shreveport Police Department is gearing up to provide a safe environment for residents and guests alike as they gather to watch the Grambling State Tigers and the Alcorn State Braves square off in the second annual Port City Classic.

As part of our ongoing commitment to make game day as safe and enjoyable as possible for all, the Shreveport Police Department would like to take this opportunity to remind football fans of some pertinent information regarding the big game.

Parking at the stadium will cost $10 for general admission parking and $20 for premium parking in the silver and brown lots. There will be a limited number of handicapped parking spaces available in the silver lot. Parking in the tailgate lot will be $25. It will cost $50 to park buses and R.V.s.  For information regarding parking in the tailgating lot or handicapped parking, please contact the State Fair of Louisiana at 318-635-1361.

For visitors traveling into Shreveport via Interstate 20, there are three exits that will get you to Independence Stadium: Greenwood Road, Hearne Avenue and Jewella Avenue. After the game, traffic will be diverted north at the intersection of Greenwood Road and Missouri Avenue and west on Hearne Avenue at its intersection with Greenwood Road.

The Shreveport Police Department wants to make everyone aware of the City of Shreveport’s smoking regulations. Current laws prohibit smoking inside Independence Stadium but anyone who wishes to smoke will be allowed to exit the stadium. Fans will be directed to gate personnel who will hole punch their ticket and stamp their hand. The punched ticket stub and that hand stamp will be required for re-entry into the stadium. Again, smoking is prohibited inside the stadium and within 25 feet of any gate. This will be enforced by officers working the game.
