Yep, you read that correctly. If you love bats and want to count them, now is your chance.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is asking the public to get on there and count as many bats as you possibly can. They need this help because 80% of Louisiana is made up of private property, also counting and tracking these bats, as well as the diseases they may be carrying can be difficult.

So, they're asking property owners to count the bats they can find on their property.

The state is actually helping the bats by doing this, as there's a disease spreading throughout the bat population killing them off. It's not known yet if this disease has made it's way to our Louisiana bats. Don't worry, humans aren't affected by it.

But we need our bats, unless you plan on eating thousands of annoying bugs for us.
