A Shreveport woman allegedly shot in the head by her husband has died.

Shreveport Police have arrested 57-year-old Lonnie James in connection with the shooting. He was originally charged with attempted 2nd degree murder. But that charge is expected to be upgraded.

The coroner has issued this report:

Antiqua James, 44, of Shreveport, was shot just before 10:30 a.m. Monday at her residence in the 3500 block of Cedar Creek Drive. She was transported to Ochsner LSU Health hospital, where she succumbed to her wound at 2:26 p.m. Tuesday, July 28th.

Detectives believe James armed himself during the argument and allegedly shot his wife in the head.

Shreveport police are on the scene of another shooting in our community
Cedar Creek Village Apartments on Cedar Creek Drive near Dean Road in West Shreveport.

Initial reports indicate this was some sort of domestic incident between a husband and wife. Shreveport Police Corporal Angie Wilhite tells KEEL News preliminary information from the scene indicates the husband shot the wife in the head during some sort of altercation. The couple's son was inside the apartment at the time and he has been taken in for questioning.
