OK, I must confess. The rumors are true. I did get locked on a float during the Krewe of Centaur Parade. But I'm amazed by all the different versions of this story that are floating (pun intended) around Shreveport Bossier.

One friend tells me she heard I was found 3 hours after the parade locked in the bathroom on my float. A co-worker says he heard I got locked on the float after everyone unloaded downtown after the parade and I was not discovered until after we got to the den.

Another loyal fan says he was told I was found passed out on the float Sunday morning when someone came to get something they left on the float.

Someone very dear to me also heard the bathroom story, except she told me I was found with my undies at my ankles sleeping on the potty. I don't really do well sleeping upright!

I must tell you that I ride the most amazing float in Centaur, The 12th Knight float. Tina Rose is the Float Lt. and she is one dynamo. In fact, she is one of my dearest friends. We go back many years. She will do anything for anyone. Our float is loaded with the best of the best. We have 2 bathrooms, a margarita machine, security cameras and lots and lots of alcohol.

Here's what really happened. The Krewe of Centaur hands out awards about 2 hours before parade time. All of the riders go into Riverview Hall for the award ceremony. I was not paying attention to the time and was on the float organizing my throws. The next thing I know, I look around and don't see any of our Krewe wandering around. The door at the back of the float is locked. I am stuck on the float.  Just then I see Tina walking off to the ceremony when I holler at her "Hey, Tina I can't get out".  She hussles back over to the float and lets me out.

So I was only locked on the float for about 2 minutes. I did think about firing up the margarita machine and then laying down on all the plushies to take a nap, but I didn't think that would go over too well.

If you hear the rumor about someone getting locked on a float, it was me and yes it is true, but it's probably not as bad as you are hearing.
