It has been confirmed by a spokesperson of the Houston Family that Whitney Houston's funeral will be noon on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey.Cissy Houston, Whitney's mother, made it clear that her daughter's funeral would take place in a church and not in a large venue such as the Prudential Center or the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, as was previously stated.

Fans of Whitney Houston have begun to place flowers and other mementos in honor of her at the New Hope Baptist Church and other landmarks in Houston's career such as the Apollo Theater and the Whitney E. Houston Academy Center for Performing Arts.
