A woman was seriously injured in a house fire; her rescuer is also recovering.

More than a dozen fire units responded to a house fire in the 7300 block of Mallard Drive at about 10:00PM Tuesday night. When Caddo Fire District 1 crews arrived they found a house fully engulfed in flames. An elderly woman had been trapped inside, but her neighbor was able to pull her to safety.

The woman sustained 2nd and 3rd degree burns over 60% of her body and was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. She remains in critical condition. Her rescuer was also taken to the hospital with minor burns and smoke inhalation.

The fire remains under investigation.
