There's no electricity at my house in North Bossier Parish.  It all started around 4:00 yesterday afternoon.  From what we heard through the grapevine, a tree fell on some power lines way up north on Bellevue Road and had customers from there all the way to Dogwood without power.

But then around 9:00 last night, the power came back on.  For those of us north of Winnfield Road on Bellevue Road, it was short lived.  Last all of about 15 minutes and we were back in the dark.  As I logged on to the Swepco website to see when we might get the power back, I saw the dreaded message.  Where it says "Estimated Restoration", we have the wonderful "Assessing Condition"....which, in my estimation, means, "We really don't know when or if you'll ever have power again."

Guess I'll have to get used to cold showers and no air conditioning.  And as I drove in to work this morning, it looked like an apocalypse north of Winnfield Road.  It was eerily dark.  But once you got to Winnfield Road, it was life as normal.

However, my little neck of the woods isn't the only area still without electricity.  Looks like there are people scattered all over still struggling to find their toothbrush in the dark.

I'm sure that Swepco is working as fast as they can to get everyone back up and running.  And I want them to know how much we appreciate the fact that when the rest of us are headed for cover in the storms, we know they're not only outside, but they're climbing a pole during a thundering downpour to work on high voltage power lines.  You people are real heroes too!
