Cellphone video posted on the KLFY TV Website showed an altercation that took place on Saturday afternoon during the Youngsville Mardi Gras parade. Police in Youngsville have confirmed they did respond to a fight along the parade route.

The video which was posted originally on the social media site Facebook appears to show individuals involved in a physical altercation over some beads. Police did not report the arrests of any individuals in connection with this event.

However, Police Chief Rickey Boudreaux told the television station that he wants to have a city-wide discussion with students at local high schools to address what he described as an ongoing problem. The Chief indicated that the people involved in this altercation were high school students.

I agree with Chief Boudreaux. I think the law-abiding citizens of Youngsville deserve better than to have a very nice event marred by such childish behavior.
