Cummings will be recognized by the Forty and Eight club, a national veteran’s organization, for his heroic life-saving actions during a house fire on Thursday, March 18, 2010. Firefighter Cummings will be honored during the organization's 92nd Annual Promenade Nationale convention in Washington on Thursday, September 15, 2011.

Northwestern State University’s Demon Aquatic Club will offer an after-school developmental swim program and competitive practices. Classes will be from 3-5 p.m. Monday-Thursday at Nesom Natatorium September through May. The cost includes a $60 registration fee that covers insurance and a monthly fee of $50 per swimmer.
