For those of us who enjoy Lake Bistineau, we're well aware it's been dealt some rough blows over the last couple years.

The Giant Salvinia is one of the worst things that ever hit our area and Lake Bistineau is covered with it.

The drought we suffered through a few years back brought on a huge fire that literally burned underground for months causing several areas of the lake to lose scores of beautiful cypress trees.

The floods this year have brought on their share of major problems with the lake dotted with flooded boats overturned and wedged between trees along with dozens of destroyed boat houses.

And to top it all off, now we've apparently lost the Lake Bistineau State Park, even if just for a while, to lack of State funding to keep it open.

That's why a group of concerned citizens and property owners have created "Rebuilding Bistineau Strong" and this Saturday, June 18, they'll host a Bass Tournament to raise much needed funds for the organization's busy agenda.

Entry fee is $50 per two man team.  There's also a $10 big bass pot and a $5.00 trash fish pot.  It's a 5 fish limit and the Top 3 teams will receive a payout.

Hours are from 6:00 am until 3:00 pm and weigh in will be held at Rodgers Marina at 19 Rodgers Marina Drive in Elm Grove.

At the weigh in, they'll also host a 50/50 Raffle and catfish dinners will be on sale for only $7 per plate.

Registration ends this Friday, June 17.  Just contact 318-564-0677 or 318-268-0900 or email rbstournament@gmail.com
