Bobby Brown has denied reports that Whitney Houston‘s family are prohibiting him from attending her funeral, which will take place at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, N.J., on Saturday (Feb. 18). TMZ reported that Brown was banned from the service but a source told ABC News that it was not true.

A rep for Brown issued a statement on Wednesday (Feb. 15) saying, “Any report or statement that does not originate from my office about Bobby Brown or his representatives, is not authorized by Bobby Brown. We are not focused on reports, stories or false reports for that matter.”

A Houston family member also confirmed to ABC News that Brown was contacted to attend the private, invite-only funeral along with daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown.

As we previously reported, Bobbi Kristina has been an emotional wreck since the death of her mother. She has been hospitalized twice for consuming alcohol and prescription medication.

Brown issued an update on Tuesday regarding his daughter’s health:

“My daughter Bobbi Kristina is doing much better. We continue to provide love and support to Bobbi Kristina. She is dealing with the tragedy of her mother’s death and would prefer to do it outside of the public eye. I ask again that our privacy be respected.”

According to ABC News, many of Houston’s relatives have already left California and are in New Jersey for the funeral. However, Bobbi Kristina apparently is still in California with her father and siblings.

We sincerely hope that Houston’s family can put their differences aside and allow Brown and Bobbi Kristina attend the funeral.

We send our prayers and condolences to the entire Houston family.
