A water main break, and the subsequent repair, has prompted Bossier Parish officials to issue a boil advisory for several communities covering Consolidated Waterworks/Sewerage District 1 effective immediately.

Water in the district was reportedly shut off to repair a main break caused by a boring contractor. The boil advisory will remain in effect until the system can be evaluated and cleared by the state Department of Health and Hospitals.

Water customers in the following areas should boil their water before consuming it, making ice, brushing teeth or using it for food preparation.

The east part of Dogwood subdivision north of Dogwood Trail on Timberwood Dr. and Shadow Wood Dr. including:

  • Shadow Bend Dr.
  • Woodlake Dr.
  • Woodlake Circle
  • Foxwood Lane
  • Woodstock Dr.
  • Holly Ridge Dr.
  • Watchwood Dr.
  • Fox Run Circle
  • Wildbriar Circle
  • And portions of Ginger Dr. and Eliga Dr.

Water should be disinfected by boiling it for one full minute in a clean container. The minute begins after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. Any flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle, pouring it from one clean container to another or by adding a pinch of salt to each quart of water that is boiled.

Customers will be notified when the boil advisory has been lifted.
