[UPDATE] Bossier school district spokeswoman Sonja Bailes says at least 3 of the children were taken to Willis Knighton on Greenwood Road to be further checked out. Some parents have arrived at the scene to pick up their kids and another bus has been dispatched to pick up the rest.

[ORIGINAL STORY] There was a wreck on Highway 3 North on Benton this afternoon involving Bossier Parish school bus #506.

School district spokeswoman Sonja Bailes told our news department the bus was carrying about 25 students from Benton elementary, middle and high schools.

Initially, no visible injuries were detected, but medics are on the scene giving each student a careful evaluation. The principal, in turn, is notifying the children's parents.

As for what happened, Bailes said an SUV ran into a pick-up truck pulling a trailer, pushing it into the back of the school bus.
