On July 10, exactly six months after David Bowie’s death, his grandson was born. Yesterday (July 29), Duncan Jones, Bowie’s oldest child, announced the arrival of their first child, a boy, who was named Stenton David Jones in memory of Bowie.

Jones tweeted, “Stenton David Jones. Born July 10th, exactly six months after his grandad made room for him. Love you both so.” He included two heart emoji and a sketch that suggested that his father would have been proud.

The 45-year-old Jones is a filmmaker who made a splash in 2009 with his debut, Moon, which he wrote and directed, winning several awards including a BAFTA for for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer. Two years later, he directed Source Code. His third movie, Warcraft, a screen adaptation of the Warcraft video game series, was released back in June.

Born in 1971 to Bowie and his first wife, Angie, Jones was known by his legal middle name, “Zowie,” for much of his childhood. As a teenager, he preferred to be called “Joey,” before switching to his birth name of Duncan Jones as an adult. He has been married to the former Rodene Ronquillo, a photographer, since 2012. Bowie has another child, Alexandria Zahra "Lexi" Jones, who was born in 2000. His second wife, supermodel Iman, is her mother.

Bowie's musical spirit remains alive in the news that jazz saxophonist Donny McClaskin, whose band backed Bowie on Blackstar, will be releasing his next album, Beyond Now, on Oct. 14.  It will contain covers of two Bowie songs, “A Small Plot of Land” and “Warszawa.”
