Disney Buys Rights to tell story of Prince Charming’s Not So Charming Brother
It's a magical new world for Disney! We've seen live action versions of "Cinderella," "Sleeping Beauty (Maleficent)," and "Beauty and the Beast" is coming soon.
And guess what's next on the horizon - According to the Guardian, the live action comedy of the brother of Prince Charming.
It seems this prince is quite unlucky and not nearly as charming, though he will share the same last name as his dashing brother.
Prince Charming will not follow the titular character, but rather his brother who has struggled to compete thanks to a lack of charm.
Hmm... should be interesting. Hopefully, they get it right. I'm sure that's why Disney swooped in to grab the rights.
The script was offered to studios last week, but Disney outbid them all, hoping to follow its ever-increasing list of live-action kids’ movies. As well as the success of 'Alice in Wonderland,' 'Maleficent' and 'Cinderella,' the studio has also planned new takes on 'Beauty and the Beast,' 'Dumbo,' 'Mulan,' 'Pocahontas' and 'The Jungle Book.'
Disney has been on a roll as of late with "Frozen," "Inside Out," and "Cinderella." Not to mention all of the Marvel franchises that are killing it at the box office. Hopefully, they'll find the right guy to play the OTHER Prince Charming.
Hey Disney casting execs, I could be convinced to clear my schedule. *nudge* *nudge* *wink* *wink.*
