A year after embarking on a self-imposed social media hiatus, Ed Sheeran made a triumphant return to music, offering fans two brand new songs that have already earned him top honors on the Billboard Hot 100.

The "Afire Love" singer scored his first Hot 100 No. 1 as a performer with “Shape Of You,” which debuted at the top of the chart dated January 28. Further, Sheeran is the first artist to ever debut in the Top 10 with two songs charting at the same time, as “Castle On The Hill,” entered the Hot 100 at No. 6.

Sheeran — who’s had 16 tracks in the Hot 100 since his first song “The A Team” landed on the chart back in 2012 — previously peaked at No. 2 with his 2015 single “Thinking Out Loud,” which remained there for eight weeks.

While the “Shape of You” debut marks Sheeran’s first No. 1 as a performer, he previously earned the top spot as a writer with the Justin Bieber track “Love Yourself," which lingered for two weeks at No. 1 back in February 2016.

And in even more impressive news, “Shape of You” marks only the 27th song to debut at No. 1 on the Hot 100, the last of which was Justin Timberlake’s contribution to the Trolls soundtrack, “Can’t Stop the Feeling,” which hit No. 1 on May 29, 2016.
